SANIBEL ISLAND, Fla. – The U.S. Coast Guard rescued 4 individuals and their dog on Wednesday after harsh weather condition badly harmed their ship near Florida’s Sanibel Island.
On Wednesday night, the cruising vessel North Wind was handling water from the weather condition, that included 4- to 5-foot seas and 20- to 25-mph winds, the Coast Guard said, though stronger thunderstorms were in the area, according to the National Weather Service.
According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the ship’s sails had actually torn, and their rudder was broken.
They kept in mind that a Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach boat team rescued the North Wind team and their dog, bringing them to Station Fort Myers Beach in south Florida without any injuries reported.
HOW TO SEE FOX WEATHER CONDITION
“It’s truly crucial for individuals to inspect weather forecast prior to heading out on the water throughout Florida’s rainy season,” said Petty Officer second Class Dean Marandos, Station Fort Myers Beach. “It’s a lot more crucial to have working safety equipment on board such as flares and an emergency situation position suggesting locator beacon.”
