GLOUCESTER — Two girls had been rescued from Gloucester Harbor on Sunday morning after they had been washed off the Dog Bar Breakwater.
Police stated they had been known as at round 10:45 a.m. to the breakwater, which extends out from Eastern Point Lighthouse in Gloucester’s outer harbor, after two girls of their 20s had been swept off the breakwater and into the Harbor.
After arriving, firefighters climbed down the aspect of the granite breakwater to rescue the ladies.
“The Dog Bar is 2,250 ft lengthy and guests can walk throughout the large granite floor, stated Police Chief Conley. “We want to take this second to remind residents and guests that in unsettled climate situations, significantly at excessive tide, highly effective waves can splash excessive of the breakwater, creating harmful situations.”
Both suffered vital leg accidents from the waves slamming them towards the granite slabs and had been taken to the hospital.
