2 cats, dog discovered dead after fire triggers considerable damage to house near Gurnee

A family dog and 2 cats passed away, a 2nd dog was rescued and a 3rd dog is missing out on after a fire triggered considerable damage to a house near Gurnee Thursday early morning.

The Gurnee Fire Department reacted around 8:24 a.m. Thursday to the 36200 block of North Brookside Drive in unincorporated Gurnee for a report of a structure fire.

Gurnee Fire Department Battalion Chief James Pelleteri said next-door neighbors called 911 to report the fire.

The 911 callers reported 2 individuals and 2 dogs were perhaps caught in the home.

Firefighters got here to discover heavy flames revealing from the back of the home, Pelleteri said.

The citizens had actually left by themselves prior to firemens shown up on the scene.

A dog and 2 cats were discovered dead inside the home, Pelleteri said. A 2nd dog was rescued by firemens.

A 3rd dog stays missing. Fire teams browsed the whole house for the dog, which perhaps ran.

Pelleteri said it took firemens 2 hours to bring the fire under control utilizing 4 pipe lines and an aerial truck.

Four residents of the home were examined by paramedics however did not need transportation to the healthcare facility. No firemens were hurt.

The home was considered uninhabitable with considerable damage from the fire, Pelleteri said.

The fire is not thought to be suspicious and detectives think it began on the very first flooring. The cause stays under examination.

Firefighters from Newport, Waukegan and Libertyville fire departments helped at the scene.

Firefighters from Mundelein, Zion, North Chicago and Lake Villa covered hire Gurnee.
