BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WSET) — On May 19, a concerned citizen in Bedford County reported a possible case of animal neglect on the 3000 block of Trents Ferry Road. The citizen described a thin and injured dog roaming freely in the area.
The owner of the dog, identified as Carl Jackson, was confronted by the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office regarding the condition of the animal.
After investigating further, deputies found that Jackson had several other dogs on his property, all living in substandard conditions. Due to the poor living conditions, a search warrant was obtained and executed by the sheriff’s office. The operation resulted in the seizure of an additional 11 dogs from the property. The dogs were taken to a local veterinary facility, where they received medical treatment and ongoing care.
