100-Year-Old’s Birthday Dog Parade Draws 200 Participants

Dr. Robert Moore of San Jose likes dogs. And they enjoy him back. About 200 pups appeared for Moore’s 100-year-old birthday dog parade.

Dog fan Dr. Robert Moore of San Jose, Calif., commemorated his 100th birthday on June 17, surrounded by a couple hundred furry good friends. The turnout for the 100-year-old’s birthday dog parade was much better than anybody had actually anticipated.

His child, Alison Moore, believed it would be an unique surprise for her father’s birthday to have a parade of community pooches parade past his house. She set up the puppy parade by connecting to the regional neighborhood through the Nextdoor app and welcoming next-door neighbors to bring their dogs to help her father commemorate his turning point birthday.

Alison was hoping 20 to 30 dogs would appear. So she was almost simply as stunned as her dad was when 200 dogs — and their people — appeared for the celebration. Many of the pups were dressed up in their finest celebration clothes. Some used tuxedos and stetson. One dog even appeared in a classic automobile.

“It’s hard to explain how special it was. He really felt the birthday love,” she informed NBC Bay Area.

Dogs were lined up down the street.

The dogs were supposedly lined down the street and around the block, waiting to offer their birthday wants to Robert. The celebration revelers consisted of a handicapped Basset pester, amongst dogs of every breed possible. Robert is a little a “dog whisperer” who understands every dog breed, according to NBC Bay Area.

One female who didn’t have a dog appeared for the celebration anyhow, bringing together with her a big packed toy dog.

“My father, he was so touched. He pet every single dog that came through. Every person brought the dog up to him. It was so lovely,” Alison informed NBC Bay Area.

Robert got lots of presents.

Besides welcoming Robert and wanting him a happy birthday, the dogs and their owners showered him with presents for his special day. He got homemade cards, posters, balloons, cupcakes, and flowers.

Robert is a retired dean of science and used arts from San Joes State University. He is likewise a daddy of 3 and grandpa of 5.

Alison said the majority of individuals and their dogs who appeared for the parade were total strangers to the Moore family.

She informed NBC Bay Area: “It makes you feel wonderful about your community that people would come out and do that for your dad who you love so much. It was really special.”
