VAN, Texas (KLTV) – An individual was rescued utilizing the Jaws of Life then flown to a health center following a crash on I-20 Monday afternoon.
At about 3:04 p.m., the City of Van Fire Department and the Van Police Departmentin addition to Texas DPS and Christus EMS, were dispatched to a significant mishap on I-20 at the eastbound 539 mile marker.
Authorities said one victim needed to be liberated from his vehicle utilizing Hurst eDraulics rescue tools (Jaws of Life).
The victim was flown to a health center by Flight for Life for examination and treatment. The victim’s service dog died in the crash, authorities said.
A substantial traffic hold-up was reported on I-20 eastbound since 4:30 p.m. Drivers are motivated to utilize detours as teams work to clear the street.
