An unexpected, yet wonderful visitor woke up a woman who was staying at a 13th-century monastery in Italy.

The TikTok user @socialmediaamy was staying at the Chiesa di Sant’Agostino, or Church of St Augustine in San Gimignano, Italy, a small hilltop town in Tuscany. The construction of the church began in 1280 and completed in 1298.

The church draws in visitors to experience its history and art, but as this TikTok creator told Newsweek, this church is a “hidden gem” for more than what meets the eye. A resident tuxedo cat named Marco makes the church much more memorable.

Marco likes to run the building. He greets guests, makes sure they’re comfortable, and in the March 3 TikTok clip, Marco became the morning alarm clock for this video creator. She must’ve not received the warning about the cat because she was very surprised to see Marco waking her up.

The caption reads: “Guess I own a cat now.”

Marco was not afraid of getting up close and personal to the guests. The woman turned the camera around to reveal Marco was resting right on top of her legs. He has no problem making sure everyone staying at the monastery is comfortable and taken care of.

Now, who wouldn’t want to wake up to that? He’s offering warmth and snuggles—a purrfect start to get any itinerary started on the right foot.

In a separate video, she showed how Marco assists while people try to work in the monastery. He sat right on top of someone’s laptop. It’s his version of telling them enough work. They need to pay their respects and give Marco the attention he deserves.

The precious TikTok clip had over 35,400 views, 5,493 likes, and 87 comments. A majority of viewers were head over paws, sharing their jealousy of this woman’s experience.

“Cat is the one responsible for welcoming the guests,” pointed out a viewer.

The creator responded by saying: “He’s a wonderful host…good hot water bottle too.”

Another added: “Oooh, a complimentary cat. Noice.”

One viewer shared an excellent business idea: “Airbnb could make a fortune by encouraging property owners to throw a cat into the deal.” Plenty of people would pay extra to have a furry friend as an alarm clock.
