A Washington postal employee chalked up his $717,500 lotto windfall to a fortunate kitten rescue.
Tacoma deliveryman Joseph Waldherr arrived at work to choose up mail and packages to supply when he heard the cries of a trapped kitten.
He couldn’t decide the small creature’s location, however when Waldherr returned the next day to listen to extra mewling, he managed to find the fuzzy feline, which was trapped in a decent house.
Waldherr tucked into the black-and-white kitten with peach-colored cheeks in his sweatshirt pocket and let it nap for the rest of his shift.
The profitable rescue had Waldherr feeling like he was on a scorching streak, and the deliveryman determined to cease by a comfort retailer on his approach home for a Hit 5 lotto ticket.
“I’m having a lucky day,” he recalled to KUOW. “Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket.”
Just a few days later, Waldherr checked the ticket along with his spouse and realized that he landed a windfall, raking in $717,500.
Waldherr credited the jackpot to rescuing the kitten, whom he and his spouse determined to maintain and have named. “Peaches.”
He plans to save lots of a number of the winnings and use the remainder to assist his dad and mom with their retirement and donate to charities.
“My wife and I have everything we need. We just want to help others,” he stated.
