MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Three dogs and one cat died while five people, including a firefighter, was taken to a hospital after a carbon monoxide leak was reported Tuesday afternoon at an apartment complex, the Memphis Fire Department said.
The leak was reported about 3:30 p.m. at The Venue, an apartment complex on Central Avenue.
The five people who were taken to a hospital were in non-critical condition, the Memphis Fire Department said.
Residents of the apartments told FOX13 that they received an emergency alert telling them to vacate the complex.
MFD said that the 160-unit building houses about 300 residents.
