New This Morning presenter Cat Deeley reportedly gave up a £43,000 per-episode job in favour of the ITV gig.

The TV star, 47, has officially been confirmed as the new host of the daytime programme, alongside former Good Morning Britain presenter Ben Shephard.

The pair will be taking over from Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, who both left within months of each other.

Cat had previously hosted a few special episodes alongside Rylan Clark, but it had been said she’d turned down the This Morning offer and called her stint a ‘one-off’.

It was claimed at the time that she opted to host So You Think You Can Dance in America instead, leaving ITV bosses ‘gutted’.

However, it’s now been said Cat sacrificed that £43,000 per-episode pay cheque.

The Sun as an alternative notes she’ll be incomes an annual wage of £550,000 on This Morning, which is supposedly £150,000 lower than Holly and Schofield.

Speaking about her new role, Cat said: ‘I can’t wait to be a part of the team, from the crew and producers, to the brilliant presenters.

‘I’ve been hosting solo for the past few years and I’ve really missed that sense of camaraderie, it will be great to be a part of such an incredible team.’

She added: ‘As I’ve previously said, This Morning is a national institution. Whenever it’s on it’s like having your friends over, funny, smart, silly, heartfelt, informative and joyful – like all the greatest friendships!’

Cat began her presenting career on SMTV Live with Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, and it’s spin-off music programme CD:UK with Holly.

She moved on to host So You Think You Can Dance in America, after presenting roles on Fame Academy and Stars in Their Eyes.

A roster of presenters including Josie Gibson, Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond have been filling in since both Holly, 42, and Schofield, 61, quit the daytime programme within weeks of each other.

Holly, who has now returned to ITV as a presenter on Dancing On Ice, quit This Morning in October after 14 years, saying that it was ‘a difficult goodbye.

Schofield meanwhile resigned from ITV in full in May after admitting his ‘unwise but not illegal affair’.

Metro.co.uk has approached Cat’s reps for comment.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV1.
