Our cat, Felix, has a brand new home.

We adopted Felix in Mexico whereas we had been staying there. The lady who fostered him, Marcela, thought he was a kitten as a result of he was so small — apart from his tail, which seems to be meant for a a lot bigger cat.

But once I took him to the vet, they stated he was two years old. I nervous he was going by loads of adjustments somewhat rapidly for a two-year-old. He lived on the streets till he was picked up by Marcela, then he got here to stay with us in Mexico. Now Felix and Peter and I are returning to the U.S. collectively.

Felix received all his pictures and had very official-looking papers stuffed out, proving he was prepared for journey. I put him in his little backpack service, and all of us boarded the van to the airport. Felix didn’t benefit from the hour-and-a-half-long trip on the bus to the airport. He cried each time we went over a giant bump or round a pointy curve, so I held him on my lap and ready for a protracted day.

But as soon as we received out of the van, Felix loved being carried across the airport, and every part was tremendous. Except our aircraft didn’t arrive.

We waited and waited and eventually, we boarded. Felix rode in his little backpack service underneath the seat in entrance of me. He didn’t just like the sound of the aircraft taking off, and he didn’t just like the turbulence, however as soon as we had been within the air, every part was tremendous as soon as once more.

“What a good cat!” I stated.

But we arrived in Houston far too late to catch our subsequent flight. The airline put us up in a resort and, the subsequent factor we knew, we had been all on the Sheraton. Felix had meals. The resort had a field. But we had no cat litter.

I made some calls, and the closest place nonetheless open was Walmart, a number of miles away. I known as a cab and went to purchase cat litter. By this time, it was getting very late. The restaurant on the resort had closed. Peter known as as I used to be using again to the resort.
“I got carryout!” Peter introduced. “Felix and I are in the room eating French fries.”

I returned to the resort room, poured the litter into the field the resort employees had kindly rounded up, and Felix availed himself of the brand new services instantly.

“What a good cat!” I stated.

Felix loved his room on the Sheraton very a lot. In addition to the French fries, there have been loads of locations to discover, and he found he may conceal underneath the mud ruffle of the mattress and attack our toes. When we went to mattress, he climbed up between us.

“What a good cat!” I stated.

By the subsequent morning, air journey was old hat for Felix. He didn’t like takeoff and he didn’t like touchdown, however in between he napped, besides once I slipped him bits of cheese. Snacks are all the time good on a flight.

When we lastly received to our apartment, Felix was very shocked. It’s about 4 instances the dimensions of the little house we lease in Mexico. But Felix quietly went about his explorations, used his new litter field and went to mattress between us once more — in a brand new mattress, a brand new home, a brand new nation.

“What do you think, Felix?” I requested. Felix purred.

“What a good cat!” I stated. “What a good cat,” Peter agreed.

And all of us went to sleep and began our new life collectively.

Till subsequent time,

Carrie
