When I was 9 years of ages, I went to Green Acres Summertime Day Camp. On weekdays, at 8 a.m. the Elephant bus selected me up at my house. I would invest the day playing and swimming at day camp and returned around 4 p.m.

One day, I left the bus and discovered a Tabby cat gingerly walking our residential or commercial property. I signified to it and it all of a sudden concerned me. I called her Menou. My mom didn’t like felines and informed me not to feed her, I did.

Every day, I would leap out of the afternoon bus and rapidly go to provide her tuna, water and great deals of cuddles. This went on for weeks throughout the summertime of 1971. On a really hot day, I left the bus and I could not discover Menou. Remarkably, she was on a blanket at my front door. My mom informed me she remained in labor and will deliver! I was so fired up to enjoy this wonder of life. I sat beside her for hours, however absolutely nothing occurred that night.

The next early morning, I didn’t wish to go to camp. I wished to supervise Menou and take care of her. My mom insisted I go. Unwillingly, I got on the bus and left my heart with Menou.

Lastly, the day was over and I ran the bus. I discovered Menou on the blanket with 5 kittycats lying around her body. I seemed like their mom. I called the kittycats Blackie, Smokie, Rusty, Tiger and Menou Jr.. I liked Menou and I specifically liked her kittycats. They were so sweet and had lovable faint squeaky voices.

At that time, I insisted we call a veterinarian and get Menou appropriate food so she might feed her infants well. My mom listened to me and got her Mom & & babycat foods. She was so starving and thirsty and consumed extremely well.

We moved Menou from our front deck to a yard shed, where she might rest and feed her kittycats in peace. I invested every complimentary minute with her and the kittycats. I liked her and I loved her gorgeous infants. Every minute of every day I invested with Menou. Her kittycats were growing so rapidly. After a couple of weeks they were currently walking, meowing, feeding and being so silly. They were the best home entertainment that summertime.

My mom informed me the kittycats and Menou might remain the summertime, once school began, the felines needed to go! I could not breathe at the idea of losing my household. I stated, “I will entrust to them too!”

At the end of August, the kittycats were healthy and all set to be embraced. Our neighbours were delighted to end up being cat moms and dads. Smokie, with his long grey fluffy hair was the very first kitten to leave. Blackie left with his long black hair and white spotted paws. Rusty had spots of colours all over his body. He was the 3rd cat to leave.

With every left cat, my heart broke a bit. I wished to keep my cat household as a household, however it was a huge duty to take care of 6 felines.

Menou Jr. went to my good friend Beverly. That was okay for me. Tiger was the runt of the litter. I tenderly hand feed him every day. Nobody wished to embrace him, so I pled my mom to keep him and Menou. She stated, “NO!” Her words were, “When you get a house of your own, you can have as lots of felines as you desire. I do not like felines and I will not have them in this house.”

I wished to run away with the felines and never ever returned. That night, I oversleeped the shed with Menou and Tiger. I liked the felines more than anything else in my life.

On the day prior to school began, my mom and daddy took Menou and Tiger to the SPCA. I went to my bed room and sobbed into my pillow for the longest time. I sobbed for days and I disliked living in your home. My heart hurt and I felt broken. I could not wait to have a house of my own.

Suzanne Reisler Litwin: To Menou with Love — A Love Story

Several years later on, I had a house of my own. I discovered my cat Rayon and we cohabited for 11 gorgeous years. Menou and her kittycats will constantly be the likes of my life.

I like animals. I specifically like felines and pets. When I coped with my moms and dads I had lots of animals. Over a time period, I had exotic fish, 2 hamsters, turtles, a guinea pig, 2 chicks, a bunny, a cat, and I attempted to encourage my moms and dads to permit me to keep a dog. No complimentary moving animals were permitted to reside in my youth house, as my mom usually did not like animals. I needed to regard that …

Having Menou and all the other animals taught me how to be accountable for looking after them. At a really young age, I discovered how to be accountable for another life. This is a really essential lesson to teach your kids. Not just is looking after animals an essential lesson to find out, however the sharing of your love and getting love back is the best present.

Think about embracing a terrific animal. Menou and Tiger were embraced lots of, several years back. I hope whoever embraced the felines, provided the love I still have for them today. Share your love, and in return, you will get love.

Wanting you all a marvelous holiday and a really healthy happy New Year.

With adoring love to you,

Suzanne Reisler Litwin
