A kitten is now recuperating and preparing for adoption after being discovered in a Vancouver garage with a terribly damaged and contaminated leg.
Now called Haddie, the six-week-old kitten was discovered by a Good Samaritan when they were clearing out their garage, according to a release from BC SPCA Thursday (June 29).
“Haddie was cold, dehydrated, and hungry when she arrived. She had been trapped under a storage crate and had badly twisted her leg to the point that it had broken and become seriously infected. We immediately rushed her to an animal hospital,” explained Jodi Dunlop, supervisor of the BC SPCA’s Vancouver animal centre.
Haddie required emergency situation surgical treatment to eliminate the fractured and contaminated leg. Dunlop said a vet taken a look at Haddie and identified her leg had actually been fractured for a number of days prior to being discovered.
Haddie is recuperating and recovering now, however the SPCA anticipates her to be all set for adoption in 2 to 3 weeks.
“Haddie is a spicy little girl who hasn’t had much human interaction,” said Dunlop. “She is getting stronger and less fearful every day and is warming up to the people around her.”
