When he entered into the loft, Mr Hawkins might not see any cats in the beginning.
He established a gentle trap, which the mom ventured into a number of hours later on.
“Once I got her home I saw she had noticeable teats and understood there need to be kittens close by,” said Mr Hawkins.
He returned to the attic to search for kittens, which he handled to discover by shining a strong torch around the location.
“Luckily I saw the sparkle of their eyes in the beam which led me to the kittens, who were almost totally concealed in a nest in the insulation.
“Despite her young age, the mom cat had outstanding maternal impulses to have actually discovered such a warm space for her young, even if fibreglass isn’t perfect nest product,” he said.
Fibreglass can be an irritant to cats’ skin and internal organs if breathed in or swallowed.
Thankfully, the family remained in “excellent condition”, said Leslie Cooper, cat well-being officer, and the kittens had actually been well taken care of by the mum.
