MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) – The seventh annual Allie Cat Festival was held in entrance of City Hall in Meridian on Saturday.

The competition included a petting zoo, a 5K run, a bouncy home for youngsters, meals and enjoyable.

Allie Carruth handed away seven years in the past on the tender age of six. Her dad and mom, Bill and Leslie Carruth, discovered consolation in donating her organs.

This annual competition isn’t just for meals and video games, however the sole function is to honor those that have donated both organs, eyes or tissues to those that want it so as to stay their life.

“It’s just to bring awareness to donate life, which we celebrate awareness in April, which is Donate Life Awareness Month” stated Leslie. “We just raise a bunch of money to give it all back to the community and to different organizations.”

“So we had probably 500 runners and then now we’ve got, you know, the band’s playing,” stated Leslie. “We’ve got tons of people that are out here enjoying. So, it’s been a great day.”

The Community Foundation of East Mississippi has formally opened up the ‘Allie Community’ grant.
