Employees of a cat shelter based in Ohio started the day off with a heartbreaking discovery after a feline was found outside the front door in a brown box with a note.

A person surrendered the cat and dumped her outside the Paws and Whiskers Cat Shelter with the hopes the shelter would be able to find her a new home. They left a note on top of the box that reads: “Hello my name is Peanut. I’m loving. Please find me a home. I’m just a kitten. Thank you.”

The kitten, thankfully, did not escape the box before anyone found her. And without hesitation, the shelter brought her in.

The February 21 video posted to the account @pawsandwhiskersshelter showed that the employees spent the entire morning comforting him as he was scared and shaking, which is not surprising since his entire life just got turned upside down. They kept telling him that everything was going to be alright, he will have a new home, and in the meantime, they’ll be by his side.

The shelter renamed this black cat to Brady. A new name to start her new and fresh life because it can only go up from here. They will have him available for adoption soon.

They shared that others who need to surrender their pet for whatever reason should not do it in this manner. Instead, go in and talk to them. Animal shelters and rescues are there to help and offer options and support. They all only want what is best for the animals.

The gutwrenching TikTok clip had nearly 12,000 views, 1,029 likes, and 30 comments as of Friday. The comments showed people’s disappointment in humanity, but also support as they believe Brady is on his way to a better life.

“I can’t believe people do this. I’m so happy Brady is now safe,” said one viewer.

Someone else shared positivity: “Brady is on the verge of having the best life now.”

Brady was just one of the nearly 6.3 million pets that are surrendered each year with roughly 3.2 million of them being cats. And unfortunately, Brady will have a tough task in front of him as black cats are adopted at lower rates than other cat breeds.
