A severely burned cat in West Kelowna has made a full restoration and located a perpetually home after weeks of care.
The cat known as Milo was discovered by firefighters when the McDougall Creek wildfire flared up within the center August. They shortly made preparations to hurry it to emergency veterinary care.
“The cat was in really bad shape and no one knew if he would make it,” mentioned Debra McBride with the Animal Lifeline Emergency Response Team within the Okanagan. “The prognosis can be difficult with burns, new tissue has to grow. Some will make it and some won’t, but this cat was a fighter.”
The animal emergency response crew works to evacuate home animals and livestock within the south and central Okanagan throughout emergencies. The crew responded to the McDougall Lake wildfire that began in the course of August and quickly grew, forcing the evacuation of West Kelowna and components of Kelowna.
McBride, the manager director for the rescue organization, mentioned in Milo’s case, it was the firefighters and the veterinary workers who saved him.
“The vets and staff and animal health technicians, even the support staff, all supported this cat with donated time and care,” she mentioned. “We supplied monetary assist however they did it on their very own. It’s actually unimaginable how a lot love and care was given to this cat.”

Due to the bodily harm from the burns, the cat should be an indoor cat. McBride mentioned the homeowners needed to give up it due to extreme allergy symptoms.
For a fairytale ending, the cat was then adopted by the veterinarian who nursed it again to well being.

McBride wouldn’t disclose which native veterinarian saved and took within the cat as a result of she hasn’t been granted permission to share that data.
