A “pink alert” has been issued by an animal rights marketing campaign group after two cats had been injured in Sompting, close to Lancing throughout two air rifle assaults on separate days.
Neighbours Karen Percival and Jasmine Giles’s cats Houdini and Teddy had been wounded within the “evil” air rifle assaults earlier this month.
Animal rights marketing campaign group Peta issued the alert and has known as on residents within the village to lock their cats at home saying “cats rely on us to guard them.”
The two incidents occurred just below every week aside on Monday, October 9, and Sunday, October 15 in The Lawns, Sompting.
One cat nonetheless has a metallic pellet lodged between his lung and coronary heart.
Peta’s vp of programmes Elisa Allen mentioned: “The horrific accidents these cats have sustained is a reminder that it’s by no means protected to let our animal companions open air unattended, even when only for a minute.
“Cats rely on us to guard them and one of the best ways to do this is by holding them protected indoors.”
Police are investigating the 2 assaults, which they consider to be linked.
A spokesman for Sussex Police mentioned: “If you might have any data, or related footage, please contact police on-line or name 101 quoting serial 972 of 15/10.”
