Pet homeowners worry cat disappearances could also be linked to shootings

There are rising fears the disappearance of cats from a village could have one thing to do with a recent rash of suspected shootings. 

Over the previous seven months, six cats have gone lacking from a small neighbourhood in Milton-under-Wychwood in West Oxfordshire. 

Those that returned exhibited extreme accidents – one to its hip, one other to its mind –and a newfound worry of people. 

Earlier in April, six cats had been injured and one killed in what has been described as ‘air weapon’ assaults within the neighbouring village of Carterton. 

Shaznay Potter, the proprietor of Boyce, the fifth cat to vanish from Milton-under-Wychwood, informed ITV News: ‘My worst fear is that somebody has taken them, captured them and taken them for whatever reason that they…

‘It’s horrible to consider, isn’t it?’

Ms Potter added the household has ‘really struggled’ as a result of Boyce ‘was my only boy cat’.

She mentioned: ‘He was so affectionate. He was such an unusual cat as well. He was half Siamese. He was huge. He had really big eyes and it was just, it was just so horrible.’

Two days after Ms Potter first observed Boyce had gone lacking, her subsequent door neighbour’s cat, Odin, additionally disappeared. 

Emily Hoare, the pet’s proprietor, mentioned: ‘It was completely out of Odin’s character to not come home. He was all the time milling about spherical right here, enjoying, and he was simply fairly an affectionate cat actually. 

‘Someone thought they’d seen him within the village so we went to see however couldn’t discover him.’

She added: ‘We’ve been shouting, calling, you recognize. We simply can’t discover them wherever.’

William Oldham, who works as a vet at Woodstock Medivat, mentioned it’s not traditional for cats to wander, particularly in the course of the summer season months. 

He defined: ‘However, the number of cats in this report does worry us that several are going missing in a confined area.’

Thames Valley Police confirmed in an announcement they’re conscious of the spate of disappearances. 

The power mentioned: ‘Some cats have eventually returned, however they have returned injured and fearful of human contact. 

‘If you have any further information, please call 101 and quote crime reference 43230306445.’
