Diane Maher stated Peanut had “gained fairly a following – my regulars at all times look out for him”

A cat known as Peanut has gained fame in his city for his pub crawling antics.

For the previous six months the ginger tom has been an everyday at a number of hostelries in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire.

The George Hotel within the city has put in a mattress for him, and provided him with a Christmas stocking.

Helen Wilson, the cat’s proprietor stated: “He loves a fuss; I’m so happy he’s so contented. He wouldn’t go there if he was not joyful.”

She received Peanut when he was seven weeks old.

“After preserving him inside for some time, he began to enterprise out and would disappear,” she stated.

“I had stories of him frequenting the George Hotel. I retrieved him, however he stored nipping off up there.”

Peanut has been turning up in all weathers, generally trying “a bit bedraggled and sorry for himself”

Diane Maher, landlady of the George Hotel, in town’s High Street, first noticed Peanut on the Bramley House Hotel about six months in the past.

“He is turning into Facebook well-known. Everyone likes to fuss him. When I take a tray of drinks out, he’s at all times on somebody’s lap being pampered,” she stated.

Ms Maher stated the cat began to go to her pub about three months in the past.

“He would flip up in any climate, generally a bit bedraggled and searching sorry for himself,” she added.

“As an animal lover, I quickly grew to like him. I put in a mattress for him in our again foyer, and acquired him a Christmas stocking.

“Just not too long ago he has additionally began to hold across the smoking space of the Chatteris Working Men’s Club.

“He has gained fairly a following – my regulars at all times look out for him.

“There is nothing he likes greater than occurring a pub crawl.”
