Over 100 furry felines have been on show in Bloomington on the thirty first All Breed Cat Show over the weekend, hosted by the Illini Cat Club.
The present was held on the Interstate Center in Bloomington for the primary time. It often takes place in Champaign. That’s one thing present supervisor and Illini Cat Club secretary Mary Auth stated couldn’t be handed up.
“This year we moved to Bloomington because this is a fabulous facility here at the Interstate Center, really amazing that we had this available to us,” stated Auth.
Many sorts of kitties have been there.
“There are 33 cats represented — from Siamese, to Persians, to Maine Coons, to the Lykoi, to some Havana Browns. So a really good variety of breeds to see,” stated Auth.
Those cats have been introduced in by folks from all throughout the nation. Auth stated exhibitors hailed from states so far as Virginia, Colorado and Arizona. Their cats have been then judged based on Cat Fanciers’ Association requirements. Those embrace classes like look, well being and wellness, grooming and persona.
But cat judging was not the one occasion occurring on the Interstate Center. There have been many distributors there promoting feline-related items; from cat toys to catnip, and even customizable mats with patrons’ pets’ faces on them.
The present was additionally a fundraising alternative for adoption and shelter organizations like CATsNAP and Pet Central Helps. A portion of the proceeds from entrance charges have been donated to them.
Some cats have been even up for adoption by way of Pet Central Helps. Mary Auth expressed gratitude for that, particularly given how cat exhibits can generally get a foul rap.
“Some people kind of want to steer away from the cat shows, because they think we’re all breeders and contributing to that, when it couldn’t be further from the truth,” stated Auth. “We all love cats and so we want all of them to have good homes.”
