Eduardo Escobar is a little bit of a scaredy cat. OK, more than a bit. He has a full-fledged feline fear that has really been a recognized truth given that his days with the D-backs, when a packed rally cat in the dugout would send him into near hysterics.
But hysterics is an understatement compared to the method Escobar responded to yet another trick from his Venezuela colleagues at the World Baseball Classic when they shocked him with what he need to’ve believed was a real real-life cat in a provider. He was almost cat-atonic!
You’d believe Escobar may have cat — er, captured — on by now. Fool me when, and so on., and so on., however the gato gets him whenever, and each response is much better than the last.
The origin of Escobar’s feline worry is a little hazy, though a few of his previous colleagues informed The Athletic back in 2019 that it’s rooted in a youth event. Those colleagues even attempted to help him conquer his fear with light direct exposure, beginning with images of cats, however even those sent Escobar rushing.
Tune in Saturday night on FOX when Escobar and Venezuela handle Team U.S.A. with a journey to the Classic semifinals on the line.
