New Study Finds That Cats Actually Prefer ‘Baby Talk’

A popular TikTok video is bringing this reality to audiences’ attention.

If you speak to your cat in infant talk, you’re far from alone. Many animal fans make their voices greater and more extracted when speaking to their family pets, however a brand-new research study from Animal Cognition appears to show that cats really choose this noise, too.

Oddly enough, a great deal of feline fans are finding this research study through a popular TikTok video from @whitechubbs. The account comes from a valuable, snow-white Munchkin cat called Bobo, however it’s his owner who informed all of us with this enjoyable reality.

Isn’t that intriguing? On the one hand, it makes good sense that cats would choose a more variable and interesting intonation, however part of us marvels, too. TikTok audiences do not appear to be so stunned, though. Commenter @oceanfavor composed, “yes, they enjoy their infant talk,” as if this is old news. We expect some cats are more responsive to it than others!

@Inspiringer included, “well, they are our infants,” and we can’t argue with that! It would just be fitting that we speak to them as such. Even so, it’s good to have some clinical guarantee that we aren’t simply puzzling our feline good friends.

Well–the majority of us, anyhow! @Simplysadlysagely said, “my cat offers me side-eye when I speak to him in infant talk.” Ouch! Even if not every cat reacts to infant talk, there’s no requirement to be so disrespectful about it. Then once again, these are cats we’re speaking about!
