‘So the husband was basically jealous of a cat’

A female is allegedly separating her spouse over a cat.

She declares he offered her feline buddy, Benji, to an animal shelter without her approval.

In a post on Reddit last month, the confidential spouse, from the United States, asked users if she was overreacting over the occurrence, which is more severe than it might sound, as she thinks the cat is the reincarnation of her late daddy.

The lady explained in her post that after her father died she was “feeling very down, like I had a hole that I couldn’t fill”, so embraced a cat.

“I rescued him when he was so small he fit in the palm of my hand and have had him for two years,” she explained, prior to her story took a more unforeseeable turn.

“This may sound crazy to some, but I really believe Benji is the reincarnation of my dad,” she composed.

“When I look into his eyes, I feel something more than a cat. Like a cat born with a human soul. All the timing adds up, it all makes sense to me at least. Even if I am crazy the thought brings me comfort and I don’t see anything wrong with it.”

Her spouse, the lady said, discovered her accessory to the cat “strange and unhealthy”, simply put, “my bond with the cat freaks him out, and makes him uncomfortable that I truly believe he’s my dad’s soul.”

The lady said the cat had actually offered her with unlimited convenience.

The lady then went on a women’ journey with her sis and mum, and while away she was away her spouse re-homed the cat, “without my permission”.

Having stopped working to discover the car on her return, having anxiously browsed inside and outside her home, the lady’s spouse informs her Benji is “staying with a friend”.

When she composed the very first post, the lady had actually been led to think her cat was with her spouse’s colleague and his spouse – who they periodically dine with.

When she called the colleague, the man informed he had actually been offered the cat “fair and square” and declined to return it.

“My husband had no right, the cat has always been only mine,” the lady explained. “I adopted him, I raised him, I care for him, I’m the only one who ever spends any money on him. I am at a loss right now.

“Benji has never been through anything like this and I can only imagine the stress he must be feeling right now. I know I sure am.”

In a follow-up post a day later on, the lady explained how she spoke with the colleagues spouse who, “had no idea what I was talking about”.

The spouse later on admitted he offered Benji to a regional animal shelter.

The lady handled to get the cat back, however the occurrence destroyed her marital relationship.

“I took him (Benji) straight to my sister’s house, where I will also be staying for the time being,” the lady explained.

“My sister had been through divorce and has remarried, so she will help me get all my ducks in a row and prepare to file for divorce.

“I am heartbroken, but also incredibly thankful that my poor boy is now home safe!”

The lady said she hasn’t been home or seen her spouse considering that.

“My family has supported me in my decisions and they are all willing to do whatever it takes to help me when I may need them.”

Reddit users came out in assistance of the lady.

One composed: “It’s always surprising to me that people will do shit like this and never once think ‘hmmm, this might end my relationship’.”

Another said: “Both husband and co-worker are pieces of ****.”

A 3rd individual included: “So the husband was basically jealous of a cat thanks to which she’s a functional human being to this day. What a dickhead. I’m glad she’s divorcing him, he’s way more unhinged than he thinks she is.”
