The public is being requested to not method Charlie, the Capuchin monkey who escaped from Monkey Sanctuary Ireland in Rathdrum, Co Wicklow earlier this month.
“He won’t attack unless you try and pick him up,” William Heffernan, the top of Monkey Sanctuary Ireland, informed The Irish Times.
“He’ll chew you, he’ll nip you, he’s like a feral cat.
“He’s not a pet, he’s by no means been petted so he’s not used to that.
“I might put meals in a pulley bucket and I’ll wheel it overhead to the island, that’s the one contact [he has]. And cleansing out and if he wants any veterinary care.”
Heffernan mentioned Charlie escaped from his island within the Sanctuary through a fallen tree when workers had been making an attempt to relocate him and one other monkey.
The Dublin native mentioned he believes Charlie would probably be present in wooded areas however is worried that the monkey may very well be “killed crossing the highway.”
Heffernan informed Irish radio station KFM on Friday that Charlie is “fully away from any viruses.”
