(CBS DETROIT) – A Michigan legislator presented a brand-new expense today that would cat declawing in the state.
House Bill 4674, which Democratic Rep. Jimmie Wilson presented on Thursday, restricts a licensee from carrying out a treatment “that avoids typical performance of the claw, toes, or paws on a cat unless the treatment is needed to resolve healing function.”
The expense specifies the treatment might be carried out if the cat has a physical medical condition such as an existing or repeating disease, injury, unusual condition, infection or illness.
If executed, Michigan would be the 3rd state prohibiting cat declawing, after New York and Maryland.
