Madison Heights firefighters are nonetheless investigating the reason for a home fireplace {that a} household cat survived by hiding within the basement.
“We got the cat back,” stated Madison Heights Fire Capt. Matthew Dwyer. “Luckily, the cat was smart and got down to the lowest level and all the smoke stayed above him.”
A grandfather, his son and grandson lived on the rented home within the 31200 block of North Campbell Road north of 13 Mile Road, which is now uninhabitable.
Someone on the home known as firefighters round 6:15 p.m. Sunday to report the fireplace. The caller prompt the blaze appeared to have began with a chair that caught fireplace in a room on the second story of the home, Dwyer stated.
