A cat which swallowed 43 hairbands it had taken from its homeowners has made a full restoration after emergency surgical procedure.
Tiger, an eight-year-old tortoiseshell, is assumed to have been consuming the elastic bands for months at her home in Malton, North Yorkshire.
Owner Rebecca and her daughters, Chloe and Charlotte, didn’t know their pet had been taking the hair ties till Tiger began to be sick.
Vet Sarah Ford warned that hairbands have been “clearly very tempting” to cats.
Tiger was given anti-sickness remedy however vets mentioned she later “handed two hair bands in her poo and began being sick once more”.
An x-ray at Minster Vets’ observe in York revealed a mysterious mass in Tiger’s abdomen, which required emergency surgical procedure.

Clinical director Dr Ford mentioned she was “shocked” to find the mass was made up of hair ties.
“I as soon as had a case of a cat consuming 10 hair ties however I could not imagine it once we counted 43,” she mentioned.

Dr Ford urged cat homeowners to maintain hair bobbles, hair ties and ribbons away from cats “as they’re clearly very tempting to play with, chew and swallow”.
