Two kittens taped inside a field on the aspect of Highway 6 could have died if it weren’t for a passerby.
The cats have been discovered close to Lumby this week by a rescuer who occurred to cease and open the field and was shocked to see these tiny, emaciated kittens inside.
They have been taken to White Valley Veterinary Services, the place they have been instantly assessed.
“The clinic called OHS for help as the kittens were dehydrated, lethargic and covered in urine,” stated the Okanagan Humane Society. “No one knows how long they were in the box for. They needed veterinary care and a foster home.”
The consumption started with OHS providing to help with medical care and discover a foster, when Holly, a veterinary technician on the clinic, raised her hand to assist the kittens – now named Milton and Merlin.
“She had instantly fallen in love with them and wanted to take on the job of nursing them back to health as foster, and provide them with a safe place to recover,” stated OHS.
“Sadly, abandoned animals like Milton and Merlin land at OHS almost every day. Often, they require critical veterinary attention then healing time in foster.”
OHS desperately wants fosters and funds to proceed this life-saving work.
Once absolutely recovered, animals are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and microchipped earlier than being put up for adoption on the OHS web site and Facebook web page.
“Thanks to donors and volunteers like Holly, OHS can work with partner animal hospitals to help save lives across the Okanagan on a moment’s notice. OHS works hard, from start to finish, to ensure wonderful homes are found for all animals, like Milton and Merlin.”
