EAST HADDAM, CT — A kitten rescued in a construction fireplace final month in East Haddam has discovered a brand new home.
East Haddam firefighters Eric Walker and Michelle Forbes have adopted the kitten and named him “Soot,” in response to a hearth division Facebook publish.

The kitten was rescued from a hearth Nov. 30 on North Moodus Road. Firefighters had been dispatched at 8:54 a.m.
They arrived to seek out smoke displaying from the second flooring of the construction.
“A fast, aggressive inside attack of the fireplace was performed by inside crews, basically saving the construction,” the fireplace division stated. “Firefighter Brian Duhaime rescued a number of animals from the construction.”
No civilian or firefighter accidents had been reported.
However, one of many kittens wasn’t respiratory. Firefighters and EMTs carried out pet CPR and administered oxygen earlier than speeding the kitten to Piper-Olsen Veterinarian clinic.
