KALAMAZOO, MI — A citizen and a cat got away without injuries when a home captured on fire on Kalamazoo, authorities said.
At 9:47 p.m., Saturday, May 20, 2023, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers reacted to a fire in the 1400 block of West Main Street, the department said in a press release.
Arriving officers discovered fire and smoke originating from the front patio of the residence.
An outside attack knocked the flames down and avoided the fire from completely extending into the residence. The fire was brought under control in 10 minutes, KDPS said.
The fire damage was consisted of to the patio and the front of the residence. One resident and a cat got away unimpaired. No firemens were hurt, and the American Red Cross was informed. The fire is under examination by the Fire Marshall’s workplace, authorities said.
