In one snap, she could be seen being pushed along the road in her wheeled walker by dad Jonathan.

Betty has fibromyalgia, also known as fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS), which is a long-term condition that causes pain all over the body.

According to the NHS, symptoms include: increased sensitivity to pain; muscle stiffness; difficulty getting to sleep or staying asleep, which can make you feel very tired (fatigue); problems with mental processes (known as ‘fibro-fog’), such as difficulty concentrating or remembering things; headaches; irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), a digestive condition that causes stomach pain and bloating; and feelings of frustration, worry or low mood.

Symptoms can sometimes suddenly improve or get worse, and while treatment can ease some of the issues, it is unlikely they will disappear completely as there is currently no cure for the condition.

“The exact cause of fibromyalgia is unknown, but it’s thought to be related to abnormal levels of certain chemicals in the brain and changes in the way the central nervous system (the brain, spinal cord and nerves) processes pain messages carried around the body,” the NHS explains on its website.

“It’s also suggested that some people are more likely to develop fibromyalgia because of genes inherited from their parents.

“In many cases, the condition appears to be triggered by things that are physical or emotional like an injury, an infection or stress.”

Posting on Instagram to celebrate her 30th birthday a couple of years back, Betty admitted it had taken her a month to muster the energy to post about the milestone.

“I’m gonna be real with yall, I took these pictures for my birthday, but I didn’t take them on my birthday,” she explained.

“Being chronically ill for over a year now has made me get pretty good at managing my expectations, but things with set dates still trip me up sometimes.

“This is to all my fellow chronically ill and disabled icons (or just anyone who needs to hear this), time is meaningless and you can do the thing on any day you want.

“You don’t have to celebrate your anniversary on your anniversary, you don’t have to celebrate your birthday on your birthday, looking after yourself will always be more important than following the dates on the calendar.

“My birthday was a month ago, these pictures weren’t taken on the day, and I’ve only had the energy to post them now. It feels odd, but I feel free; jeremy bearimy baby let’s goooo.”
