Dozens of firemens worked for more than an hour over night to fight a difficult blaze that destroyed a Washington County home.
Shortly prior to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 3, initially responders from the Smithsburg Volunteer Fire Company and other close-by companies were contacted us to Edgemont Road in Smithsburg, when a property owner informed them to a fire that broke out in the living-room.
Upon arrival, a department representative said that firemens were satisfied by a heavy smoke condition that obscured the presence of the split-level home, which was 75 percent included.
The house owners verified that all residents of the residence made it out securely, though a number of cats were unaccounted for, among which was later on found by a very first responder.
Nearly 70 firemens were contacted us to the scene, and it took roughly 90 minutes to get the flames under control. However, it triggered an approximated $300,000 in damage, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
The cause and origin of the fire stay under examination.
Members of the Smithsburgh Community Volunteer Fire Company stayed at the scene up until roughly 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, as they snuffed out hotspots that flared as soon as the fire was out.
