STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — “It takes a village,” Dana Maniscalco said after her family contributed in reuniting Peaches the cat and her owner on Monday, in Grant City.
Maniscalco said she was scrolling through Facebook Monday, June 12, when she encountered a post on the Lost and Found Pets Staten Island page about a missing out on cat last seen on Barton Avenue and Richmond Road, right near her house.
“I told my husband and daughter that there was a cat missing in the area and to be on the look out, but I never actually explained to them what the cat looked like,” said Maniscalco.
Time passed when the Maniscalco’s Shih Tzu, Talia, was resting on the windowsill dealing with the front lawn and started discharging a little roar.
“My husband says he doesn’t see anything on the Ring camera, but looks down and sees the cat, and instantly said, ‘I see the cat.’ I first said to him, ‘Don’t lie,’” said Maniscalco. “I thought he was kidding, but sure enough, there was the cat, beneath my cherry blossom tree.”
Maniscalco explained that she was reluctant to unlock in the beginning, scared the cat would run. However, her partner Pasquale had a various concept and unlocked to rest on the actions.
“It was amazing,” said Maniscalco. “My husband sits down and the cat just comes right to him, so friendly. My husband picked her up and then brought her inside the house. He’s not a cat person, but is now a cat whisperer.”
Maniscalco understood it was the cat from earlier, as she mentioned it’s not a cat you can miss out on.
“The cat has no hair and has these big blue eyes,” said Maniscalco, “but is the friendliest cat ever. I’ve watched my son’s cat for a month, who is not friendly at all, even when I try go out of my way, the cat would hiss. But Peaches was so friendly and even knowing Talia was in the house, she was calm.”
Once Peaches remained in your home, the Maniscalco’s gotten in touch with Edwin Torres, the cat’s owner, and he ran as quick as he might to your home to reunite with him.
“This is a dream come true, finding a pet and being able to help reunite it with its owner. It truly takes a village,” said Maniscalco. “If you see a post on Facebook, be on the look out and pay attention to the areas for the lost pets.”
A video of the cat walking right approximately Maniscalco’s partner and climbing up the actions prior to being gotten appears on Ring.com.
Though the Maniscalco’s did the calling and reuniting, it was really the family’s dog, Talia, who “saved the day.”
“I only told my husband and daughter to be aware there was a missing cat in the neighborhood, but it was our dog who told us the cat was out front when she let out the growl.”
