The City of Whittlesea will be running a series of question-and-answer sessions that will supply details and assistance to cat owners ahead of the intro of brand-new cat guidelines later on this year.
From 1 August 2023, all cats will be needed to be restricted to their owner’s property or under efficient control when outside the property. Newly signed up cats will likewise be needed to be de-sexed.
Chair Administrator Lydia Wilson motivated family pet owners to go to a Q&A session if they had any concerns about the brand-new requirements.
“We know that confining your cat to your property can be a big change for many cats and their owners, and we are committed to helping our residents through this transition phase by providing as much information and support as we can.”
“We will have staff from our Animal Management team on hand at the sessions to talk through the changes and the resources we have available, which includes educational information, videos, and practical tips and advice on preparing your pet and your property.”
“Cats are wonderful pets and offer companionship and enjoyment to their owners. These new requirements will support the welfare and safety of pet cats and our local wildlife.”
The complimentary pop-up Q&A sessions will be held at the following areas:
- Ageing Well Expo, Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention Centre, 35 Ferres Blvd South Morang, Wednesday 21 June, 10am – 3pm
- Westfield Plenty Valley, South Morang, Thursday 22 June, 2pm – 5pm
- Westfield Plenty Valley, South Morang, Tuesday 27 June, 1pm – 4pm
