HELENA — Helena Animal Control says 5 cats were caught in gentle traps throughout a trap-neuter-return operation today.
The City of Helena Animal Control set the traps on the city’s lower east side Tuesday. The TNR program works to minimize the spread of illness and limitation population development through vaccinations and spaying and neutering of neighborhood cats.
Animal Control set the traps in shaded locations and monitored them carefully.
Officials state 4 of the cats caught were feral or “neighborhood” cats; one was a domestic cat.
The Lewis and Clark Humane Society assisted in the vaccination and spaying or neutering of the animals. The cats were launched to the very same location where they were caught. The domestic cat was launched when it was discovered.
Animal Control informed MTN that today’s operation concentrated on among the location’s smaller sized cat nests which it was an opportunity to test the operation’s logistics.
Animal Control is preparing another TNR operation concentrated on among the location’s big cat nests. The date or place has actually not been revealed.
