A “charred” however miraculously surviving small kitten rescued within the aftermath of the recent Dolphin Sands Bushfires is now residing a cheerful life with the firefighter who saved her.
Kym Manten from the Tasmania Fire Service was within the means of cleansing up the world after the devastating blaze that destroyed two houses and burnt over 220 hectares when he and his crew had been drawn to the sound of “small cries”.
It was at that second they found the kitten, alone within the sand, barely charred and “very unhappy”.
Manten instantly doused the kitten in water to chill her down and clear her earlier than taking her home with him.
The kitten was given a much-needed tub and a few meals earlier than his spouse, Deb, quickly realised that the kitten required extra love and a focus from them earlier than going to a shelter.
“Those extra days of care turned into a permanent situation and ‘Smokie’ is now settling into her new fur-ever home with Kym and Deb,” the TFS stated.
The Mantens describe Smokie as a ‘happy, playful and content’ little kitty.
