Marking its tenth anniversary this yr, Cat Art Show (previously) returns to Los Angeles for a heat and fuzzy celebration of every part feline. “The intricacies of their ever-changing personalities, coupled with the beauty of their physicality, offer rich subject matter for artists to work with,” says curator and founder Susan Michals. Every yr, the initiative donates a portion of its sale proceeds, with ten p.c going towards an organization that cares for vulnerable animals within the shelter system.
For one weekend solely, guests can soak up work by almost 50 artists from everywhere in the world, together with these acquainted to long-time Colossal readers like Matthew Grabelsky or Colin Roberts. Lola Dupre’s many-eyed kitten named “Squits” and Annie Montgomerie’s pleasant “Miss Pitch and Furl” have traveled throughout the pond, interspersed amongst frenetic felines like Vanessa Stockard’s exasperated furnishings ravager or “Une Chat” on a tear by Léo Forest.
