Fairfax County man accused of beating roommate, killing cat arrested after 21-hour standoff

After a 21-hour standoff, Fairfax County police arrested a person accused of assaulting his roommates and killing a cat. 

Police say the ordeal started simply earlier than 4 p.m. on Monday when officers have been known as to the 6000 block of Bellview Drive in Culmore for a report of an assault with a baseball bat. 

According to police, 21-year-old Brian Ramos of Falls Church was holding his roommates within the home and beat one among them with the bat. The victims have been capable of escape the condo and known as the police. 

When police arrived, they realized that Ramos was alone in the home along with his cat, armed with a knife. He proceeded to make threats with the knife as police tried to have interaction in dialog and tried to get him to come back exterior. A Crisis Negotiation Team and officers from the Special Operations Division have been despatched to the home to help. 

Officers tried to get Ramos out of the home for hours however he refused. Then, round 12:20 a.m., officers noticed Ramos begin a hearth throughout the condo. Police say he finally killed the cat and left the condo and climb to the roof.

After 21 hours, Ramos climbed down a ladder introduced in by Fairfax County Fire and Rescue. 

He was taken into custody with none additional incidents. 

Ramos was taken to an space hospital to be evaluated after which taken to the Fairfax County Detention Center the place he was charged with two counts of abduction, and two counts of assault. Additional fees are pending for the loss of life of the cat and arson.
