Doja Cat appears like she’s going to be making some modifications to her music, after renouncing her pop star title in the hopes of improving her rap video game.

On Saturday (April 8), the “Woman” tape-recording artist required to Twitter, where she revealed she’s turning a brand-new leaf. “no more pop,” she tweeted.

“i also agree with everyone who said the majority of my rap verses are mid and corny,” she continued, reacting to her critics. “I know they are. I wasnt trying to prove anything I just enjoy making music but I’m getting tired of hearing yall say that i can’t so I will.”

When questioned about what motivated the brand-new instructions — with one fan insinuating her haters got the very best of her — the chart-topper confessed: “pop isnt exciting to me anymore. I dont wanna make it.”

The pronouncement was well gotten with lots of declaring Doja is already controling her competitors. “cap lol you rap better than most rappers regardless of gender,” one user responded.

“Nah ur being way too humble u deserve to talk ur shit in the rap sphere already,” another user suggested.

In a recent interview with Variety, Doja Cat — talking about her upcoming, 4th studio album Hellmouth — revealed she’s taking a “more masculine direction” following the success of 2021’s Planet Her.

“I know that I’ve done a lot of pink and soft things, a lot of pop and glittery sounds,” she said. “But for this next era, I’m going in a more masculine direction.”

While keeping tight-lipped about a release date, Doja shared the release will be a mix of hip-hop and R&B. “I just go straight to R&B if I’m alone,” she said, including she’ll be going “harder into that.”

Although Doja has actually tested a range of artists in the past, consisting of Kelis, Blink-182 and B2K, in 2015, when inquired about her present motivations, she informed Dazed the renowned Beastie Boys were at the top of her list.

“If you wanted a teaser into what I’ve been thinking about, that’s what I’ve been on a lot. And just to make it clear, Beastie Boys is a huge inspiration to me. Beastie Boys will hit you with hard, loud and crazy rap, but they’ll also hit you with real raw ‘90s punk, which I love, or smooth techno that feels sexy and sleek. And you’ll be like, ‘Where the fuck did this come from?’”
