A dog in the U.K. went through lifesaving surgical treatment after it inadvertently swallowed a 4-inch plastic spring while having fun with a cat toy.

Rosie is a two-year-old Rottweiler dog from Dudley, England, who was having fun with a cat toy at home when she swallowed part of the toy, SWNS reported.

Owner Claire McConnell took Rosie to the veterinarian after seeing she appeared sluggish.

Blacks Vets medical director Brian Hogan said Rosie had a heat upon arrival — and kept in mind that x-rays were taken in order to see what may be triggering the puppy’s sluggishness.

“When we discussed it with the owner, she kept in mind that her cat was having fun with a toy 4 weeks previously and Rosie appeared to get and swallow it,” Hogan said to SWNS.

“I understood immediately what it was when the veterinarian called me to state a foreign body had actually been discovered in her stomach,” she said.

The object required to be gotten rid of as rapidly as possible, as the spring was plastic and might damage the dog’s esophagus, Hogan said.

“We wanted to recover it utilizing an endoscope without triggering substantial injury,” he informed SWNS.

“If that stopped working, she would have needed surgical treatment to eliminate the spring.”

“The obstacle was that the tool developed to grip and eliminate the spring should fit through a really narrow channel within the endoscope and is, for that reason, rather fragile,” Hogan said.

The group of employees at Blacks Vets worked gradually and thoroughly to eliminate the product, Hogan kept in mind.

Just 15 minutes later on, the spring was gotten rid of from the ailing dog — and she did not need surgical treatment, said SWNS.

McConnell is grateful the treatment worked out, informing SWNS that Rosie is doing better now.

“She was cared for extremely well by all the staff … [She’s now] back to her adorable, bouncy, insane self,” she included.
