Dav Pilkey’s Cat Kid Comics Club returns in a huge method, with a brand-new graphic book – and a musical!

It’s difficult to forecast the future, however in some cases, you can make a quite notified guess. For example, we can already inform what among the most popular presents for kids this holiday is going to be, thanks to the basic truth that this November sees the release of a brand-new volume of Dav Pilkey’s very popular Dog Man spin-off series, Cat Kid Comics Club. See? Maybe this prognostication thing isn’t that hard after all.


The latest book in the graphic unique series — which has its roots in the publishing phenomenon that is Pilkey’s Dog Man — will be entitled Cat Kid Comic Club: Influencers, and it’s got an unforeseen hook: when the group discovers that a person of its comics will be released, members get filled with doubt, stress and anxiety and imposter syndrome as they question if they can restore their innovative mojo or if success has destroyed them… Also, who is going to end up being the leader of the gang: Naomi or Melvin?


As with each installation of the series up until now, the story is accompanied by mini comics “created” by the members of the group; this time around, fans will get to take pleasure in “Two Birds,” “Frogzilla vs. Mechafrogzilla,” and the surprisingly entitled “I Am Dr. Fredric Wertham.” (For those who don’t get it, here’s a hint.) The brand-new book, when again composed and drawn by Pilkey, will be launched November 28, 2023.


Cat Kid Comics Club: Influencers


For those who can’t wait that wish for more Comics Club: what about comics in a theater? That’s what’s on deal as part of TheaterWorksUSA’s Cat Kid Comic Club: The Musical, which has its opening night at the Lucille Lortel Theatre in New York City this summertime.


Adapted by Kevin Del Aguila and Brad Alexander, and directed by Marlo Hunter with musical instructions from Paul Staroba, the program follows TheaterWorksUSA’s Dog Man: The Musical from 2019, and sees Cat Kid and Molly Pollywog need to find out how to teach 21 child frogs how to make comics, while handling inter-frog competition, doubtful moms and dads, and the other threats that originate from attempting to wrangle a lot imagination in one location.


The reveal will open July 21, ahead of a main opening night on July 30, and go through August 27, 2023.
