PARKESBURG — A regional black cat may have utilized among her 9 lives.
The house cat that ranged from an Easter early morning blaze that displaced 6 households was reunited, Tuesday, a little bit more than 2 weeks later on, with her keepers.
“King” had actually been homeless till she was brought in to a can of Friskies cat food put inside a trap near the website of the terrible April 9 fire at 111-121 Washington Street.
“It’s been a stressful two weeks,” King’s owner and fire survivor, Leonel Salinas, said, on Tuesday, when he was reunited with the family animal. “I never lost faith that I would find her.”
The cat was happily, and with a couple of tears, reunited into Salinas’ arms by the rescue group of April Brade and Mel Keen.
“We found that something positive came out of the fire,” Keen said.
Brade, Keen and the rest of the rescue group, spend numerous hours yearly dealing with and safeguarding roaming cats.
Salinas said she was quite frightened, however delighted. The next stop for King was to the vet.
With 2 cats unaccounted for, displaced citizens are gaining from the “wonderful “ work of the Keystone Valley Fire Department, the Borough of Parkesburg and insurance provider, Keen said.
“It was amazing to see the community rally the day of the fire,” Brade said. “Families dropped off bags of clothes, boxes of toiletries, girt cards and food.
“It was non-stop cars all day long.”
