Volunteers from the Northumbria Branch of Cats Protection were going to a garden in Ashington following reports of a litter of feral kittens in the location.

Branch Co-ordinator Sascha Dean said: “After hurrying to see the kitten, I at first feared he was already dead since he was lying flat and felt cool to the touch.
