CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Residents of a Cape Coral apartment building in the 600th block of SE 13th Ave. were woken up by popping noises and gives off something burning Wednesday early morning.
According to the Cape Coral Fire Department (CCFD), locals discovered a fire in the utility room. Despite their efforts to put it out with a fire extinguisher, the flames reignited.
The locals then closed the utility room door to keep the fire from dispersing and left the house. CCFD pertained to the scene snuffed out the flames and rescued the locals’ cat.
Fire authorities said no one was hurt; nevertheless, the fire remained in an upstairs system and the house listed below suffered water damage.
CCFD said the Red Cross is available for the resident if needed and the reason for the fire is under examination.
