Two fireplace crews had been referred to as out to a kitchen blaze at a Carlisle home and needed to rescue a cat.
Firefighters from Carlisle East and Carlisle West stations had been referred to as out at round 7.15am to Almery Drive.
Crews found a properly developed fireplace within the kitchen of the property, which had began in a tumble dryer.
Firefighters stated: “Damage to the property was limited to the kitchen because the homeowner wisely closed the kitchen door to stop fire spread, and they had working smoke alarms in the property which gave them an early warning.”
They added the cat was none the more severe for put on following its rescue.
