A rescue staff member Ali Cakas discovered the cat stuck under debris and the cat, most likely grateful for the rescue, remained with its rescuer. According to a Twitter post by previous deputy minister at the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs Anton Gerashchenko, Cakas called the cat Enkaz which implies “debris” in Turkish.
In an image shared by Gerashchenko, the black and white cat was seen cuddled up next to Cakas as he lay on a bed.
The image rapidly went viral, and quickly the world was swept up in the story of the brave rescue and the solid bond formed in between a rescuer and his furry friend.
Enkaz’s story of survival and love spread throughout social networks, motivating countless individuals all over the world. The heartfelt tale advised us that in the middle of the debris and destruction, there is constantly hope, like, and the pledge of a much better tomorrow.
