A bookkeeper is ready to courageous a skydive to lift money for an animal welfare charity.
Kate Steele, 39, from Weymouth, is hoping to lift at the least £500 for her native department of Cats Protection.
The feline charity’s Weymouth & District department rehomes round 30 cats and kittens every year and helps round 150 yearly all through Dorset. The department covers the areas of are Dorchester, Weymouth, Portland, Bridport, Sherborne and the Purbecks.
Kate, who fosters cats for the charity, mentioned: “I have never done a skydive before but I just thought why not, I want to do something to help support the cats in our care at the branch and although I do feel nervous, as I’ve not done anything this large before, I’m excited at the same time.
“The cats really are my motivation for doing it and I would like people to know that fostering is very rewarding. It gives such a warm feeling to know you’re giving the kitties a chance to be helped and loved again.”
The skydive will take place at Dunkeswell Airfield, east Devon, on Saturday, August 24.
The fundraising goal of £500 will cowl the cost of conjunctivitis therapy for 10 cats or will be capable to package out two fosterers’ cat pens with a hiding and sleeping construction aiming to supplies consolation and stress discount for needy cats.
Rebecca Worth from the Cats Protection Events workforce which organises skydives, added: “Kate’s so brave to take-on the skydive. Although it’s extremely exhilarating, it can also be really scary the first time you take that plunge! However, the funds she raises will make a huge difference to cats at the branch.
“As a fosterer Kate knows only too well just how poorly some of the cats can be when they arrive with us and we’ve noticed cats needing significantly more vet treatment when they arrive with us as a result of the ongoing impact of rising costs of living.”
So far Kate has raised practically £200 for Cats Protection. You can help Kate’s skydive by donating on her JustGiving web page:
