LUVERNE, S.D. (KSFY/Gray News) – A cat owned by a household in South Dakota has had a contented ending to his story after he went lacking a number of weeks earlier.
Charles the cat has been part of the Johnson household for eight years. At the top of April, the indoor/outside cat went lacking from their Luverne home.
Just a few weeks later, Charles’ return is nothing in need of exceptional.
On April 21, Charles’ curiosity acquired one of the best of him and he ventured outdoors and didn’t return.
It wasn’t uncommon for him to go outdoors, however Heather Johnson mentioned she was afraid he had been killed by one thing when he didn’t come again.
“Cars go down our street pretty fast, so I guess my first thought was, you know, he got hit by a car or something,” she mentioned.

“The next day, still no sign of him and I was kind of getting a little more worried and I don’t think he’s been gone for more than a day,” Heather Johnson mentioned.

“As the week went on I just was feeling worse and worse about the situation and I was like, ‘This time he finally might not come back,’” Ashlyn Johnson mentioned.

“He said, ‘I took him three miles outside of town and released him,’ and he showed me exactly on a map where he took him. That was really heartbreaking because I was like, ‘Oh no, what is he going to do?’ But at least now we knew kind of where to look,” Heather Johnson mentioned.
Heather Johnson mentioned she believed there was no means the cat would survive the Minnesota countryside.
“He was dropped off pretty close to the state park, and there’s coyotes and all sorts of wild animals out there. I was just so worried about him,” Ashlyn Johnson mentioned.
It wasn’t till the Johnsons had been transferring Ashlyn and her brother out of faculty that they acquired phrase Charles had been noticed.
“About 5:00 I got a phone call from a man who lives out by Blue Mounds State Park and he said, ‘I’m almost certain I saw your cat,’” Heather Johnson mentioned.
When the Johnsons arrived, they found it was certainly Charles.
He spent 10 days on his personal, and apart from some scratches on his nostril, he made it again home unscathed.
“It was just such a happy and relieving feeling to know that he was back,” Heather Johnson mentioned.
