Cats have a reputation for being cold and aloof, but it turns out that they do love their owners too! A cat called Luhlua has melted hearts after a video of her trying to comfort her owner, who she thought was crying, went viral on social media.

In the heartwarming clip, shared on TikTok on Saturday, under the username zakising16, the fluffy calico cat can be seen chilling on the couch as her owner records himself singing “Supermarket Flowers” by Ed Sheeran.

However, as he starts singing, Luhlua gets closer to him, and, thinking that he’s crying, she tries to comfort him by rubbing her head on his back, giving him kisses.

A caption shared along with the clip reads: “POV: my cat thinks I’m crying when I sing.” Followed by: “She is always worried.”

A cat thought her owner was crying while singing a song, so she tried to comfort him.

Although they may have funny ways of showing it, cats do love their owners just as much as dogs. In fact, according to science, domesticated cats can form strong attachments to their owners.

Moreover, according to Better Vet, cats are also able to detect their owner’s sadness and may react by offering them comfort during sad times or acting distant and taking their space when sensing anger or tension.

Examples of affectionate feline behavior include headbutting and rubbing the sides of their face against you, like the kitty in the video, rubbing up against your ankles, kneading, purring, meowing, and simply acting excited to see you, among others.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 3 million views and 625,500 likes on the platform.

One user, Author Natalie Haigh, commented: “My cat was put to sleep on the 5th of January and I was broken and in tears and she still found the strength to put her paw on my cheek which she always did to comfort me if I was sad.”

But not all cats react the same way. OkayKoda_official wrote: “Once I was having [a really] bad crying session on my kitchen floor lying there and my cat ran up and slapped me on the face.”

And Misdrex added: “Last time I was crying my cat kept screaming at me because my anxiety attack was giving her an anxiety attack.”
